It’s Tough Being a Bloke: A Real Talk on Modern Manhood and Mental Health

I don’t want to say that it’s hard being a man, because in many ways we have life on easy compared to what the fairer opposite sex has to go through in their lives, massive respect to them! I am in awe of the wonderful ladies in my life. But I do feel that we men are being left behind and forgotten about in some ways. It’s probably our fault, I mean it’s always our fault right!?!? (that’s a joke!!) What I mean by it’s probably our fault is we let it happen…. We don’t talk about how we feel, we muddle on or bury our head in the sand and hope it will go away.

This modern world has it’s pressures, pressures that never existed hundreds of years ago and they’re taking their toll! The pressure to keep up, have more and better stuff, be fit, earn enough money, be a good husband, be a good dad, be a good son, be the best version of yourself, leave a lasting positive mark, do charitable work, have a nice home, have savings and do it all in as little time as possible!!! Jeez give us chance!!!

I’ve felt the pressures and learnt how to cope, but barely! It’s an ongoing process and I think it’s important that we open up as blokes in the way that men know how and that’s a beer with mates, sitting round a fire watching the embers, walking mountains or woodland, hitting the gym and throwing some weight around etc etc. We’re all different and I want to explore it all to make it better for us, then we can be better for our wives, partners, kids and friends!

I’m passionate about this and look forward to writing more about it and I really hope you fellas get something from it!

Feel free to get in touch!

Take is easy m’mon’s!
