I live to travel and explore, a bug I inherited from my father. I’m proud that he went against the grain in the 60’s and 70’s and got himself out and about in the world, while most of his generation were down the pub in the evenings he was saving for trips to Europe, Australia and America! He went by Plane, Train and Automobile and it made him into the best dad ever, passing on an amazing view on life that only travel can give you! To be honest, in my eyes, he is James Bond! (But without the killing but with the travel.)
Granted it’s more accessible these days but we try to do it our own way, we avoid the packages except when we just need some sun and the tiny rascal needs a pool with a slide….
I suffer from SAD’s in the winter, I need the vitamin D, a lot more than this dank corner of the world offers, so getting away is the only option! I look forward to sharing our experiences with you. I’m no Simon Calder (or other travel writer you know) I just want to share what we get up to.
I also love the Lake District, I spent a lot of my childhood there and it gave me the bug for mountains, I love hiking and exploring the fells and enjoy a beer afterwards! I do this alone, with family and with friends.
My ideal holiday is a mix of a city break with a beach destination afterwards to relax after the hustle and bustle. Oh, and skiing and snowboarding in the alps, the closest thing to flying! If you haven’t done it, I urge you to do it!
Watch this space!
Take it easy
