I Could Just Do With a Minute

“I don’t have time!”
I reckon this is probably my most used phrase of 2026. It is my go-to response to everyone, from my wife, my parents, my mates and work colleagues.
Thing is, I’m not lying either!
Yeah, it’s mad at work, you all know this… I’ve banged on about it enough. Apologies for that, but it’s true.
The other day I described everyday at the moment feeling and being like the last day before a holiday.
Many of you will know this feeling, it’s a sort of overwhelm. The pressure to get as much done as possible so there isn’t as much to come back to, as well as the bits you need to get done to ensure you aren’t holding anyone up while you’re away.
Well for me, that is every day!
I am a bottleneck, I know this and I am trying to figure out how to fix it, because if I don’t I’m going to be destined to have no time for anything else in the future!
My first words in my journal this year were:
“Live for Belle.”
This was a promise to make the most of life. To experience as much as possible. This is a promise we are definitely keeping, however, doing so much puts a strain on ones time.
Don’t get me wrong this isn’t a moan, We are privileged to be so busy at work, to have such a busy social life.
But do you ever feel like you could just do with a minute?
I certainly do!
Every year flies by faster and faster, the oldies weren’t wrong when they told me this 20 odd years ago.
I did believe them, sort of, because life went quick back then, but not a patch on how fast it goes now!
I dread to think how fast it will fly by when I’m 60!
I think making the most of the time we have is important, and I have been doing that, up to a point… however there have been times lately when I have found myself asking the question:
“Why am I doing this?”
Is this thing actually important?
Does it need doing now?
Does it even need doing at all?
My time could be better spent elsewhere because my daughter isn’t getting any younger, neither are my parents. Neither am I for that matter.
I don’t want to spend the next 20 years saying “I don’t have time” only to eventually wonder where all the blummin time went!
Thing is, I probably don’t need more time, I just need to be protective of the time I already have.
I’m not sure how I’m going to do that yet, if I knew, I probably wouldn’t be writing this blog…
So, I welcome your suggestions, please let me know.
All I know is, I need to do something.
Because I don’t have time to keep saying I don’t have time.
Take it easy!
